Calabria, southern Italy, 2022-2024
Client ANAS Spa
In the framework of the modernization of the S.S. 106 Jonica, the new infrastructural link has been developed on new aligment to reach better levels of resilience of the existing north-south network, providing a viable alternative to the parallel A2 motorway on the Tyrrhenian front. The project involves the construction of a new road of “B” class according to the 2001 Decree, in the section between the Viaduct Coserie in the territory of Corigliano-Rossano and the SS534 Firmo-Sibari in the territory of Cassano allo Jonio. The project is completed by the upgrading on site of the SS534 for an extension of about 6 km between Megalotto 3 (road junction not included) and the intersection with the existing SS106 Radd. The route consists of a total length of about 32km, 5 km developed on viaducts.
E.D.IN., within the scope of the Technical and Economic Feasibility Design for D&B tendering, has been responsible for the structural and geotechnical design of about 20 dual and single carriageway viaducts along the new link. The structures comprise composite steel-concrete decks, bow-tie steel arch bridges and extradosed steel trusses.
