New Catanzaro-Crotone line
Calabria, southern Italy, 2022-2024
Client ANAS Spa
In the framework of the modernization of the S.S. 106 Jonica, the new infrastructural link has been developed on a new aligment, to reach better levels of resilience of the existing north-south network, providing a viable alternative for the parallel A2 motorway on the Tyrrhenian front. In the development of the new route between the cities of Catanzaro and Crotone, the new link extends for about 50km, along which one finds about 20km of different structures, including tunnels and viaducts, for a total investment cost of about 2 billion euros.
E.D.IN., within the scope of the Technical and Economic Feasibility Design for D&B tendering, has been responsible for the structural and geotechnical design of about 40 separate dual carriageway viaducts along the new link. The structures consist of composite steel-concrete decks, with seismic protection provided by latest generation isolation systems.
