Engineering services for the technical-economic feasibility design of lots 1A Battipaglia-Romagnano (34 km), 1B Romagnano-Buonabitacolo (49 km), and 1C Buonabitacolo-Praia (45 km). E.D.IN. developed the design of the railway viaducts for a total of 30 structures with an overall extension of over 30 km and a total of 780 single and double track spans. The activities carried out included the study of viaduct layouts in relation to hydraulic and road interferences and the morphology of the territory, the sizing of typical substructures, deep foundations on piles and shafts and typical temporary works. The project envisages a number of different structural types, starting with conventional filler beam decks with spans of about 20 m and precast pre-stressed concrete girders with spans of 25 m. Within the project, in the presence of widespread interferences and flood areas, composite steel-concrete decks were also consistently adopted with spans of 40 m and 45 m with 4 I-beams and spans from 50 m to 75 m with box girders. Additionally, steel trusses are adopted for single track spans between 60 m and 75m and, finally, special structures, such as steel tied arch bridges with spans up to 120m, are planned for the crossings of the A2 “Mediterranean” Motorway, providing landmark elements characterizing the entire project.
